El Rio Nurse-Midwives are part of the El Rio Health Center in midtown Tucson. We are a group of eight Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs), providing women's health and pregnancy care. Our clients give birth at Tucson Medical Center, in modern, private birthing rooms.

El Rio Health Center is an independent community-based primary health care center. Services are available to all, but especially to those least able to afford health care. Our goal is to provide accessible, affordable comprehensive midwifery care in an atmosphere of respect and dignity for women and their families.

The El Rio Nurse-Midwifery service was one of the first of it's kind in Tucson. For centuries, women have looked to midwives to advise and assist them in pregnancy and childbirth. Our CNMs still carry on this tradition of personal, family-centered, understanding care. CNMs are experts in the natural process of pregnancy and birth. And at Tucson Medical Center we have access to specialized technology and medical specialists, when needed.

The CNMs of El Rio share the belief that all women are entitled to safe, satisfying health care, and that pregnancy and childbirth are healthy, normal experiences. Childbirth can be one of the most creative, exciting times life has to offer. We are committed to enhancing your families' experience by involving you in your own health and pregnancy care.

We have a financial counselor available to help you with a payment plan, including private insurance, AHCCCS or SOBRA, and a sliding-fee-scale according to your income.

Closed every day 12 noon - 1pm

I'm so happy!
